For Behavioral Health Professionals, By Behavioral Health Professionals
In an era of diminishing resources for many of the needs of our clients (and ourselves as members of the professional service community in behavioral healthcare), the African American Private Practitioners in Behavioral Health (AAPPBH) is the organization formed to meet your needs and address your concerns regarding quality client care.
African American Private Practitioners in Behavioral Health was organized in 2002 to improve its members’ abilities to provide quality behavioral health through opportunities for networking, support and generating income.
We are committed to being the premier organization in the behavioral health field that identifies, recognizes and distinguishes trained, experienced and qualified practitioners of color. These practitioners are made available to organizations, individuals and communities seeking quality and culturally sensitive behavioral health services.
Testimonials
Being in private practice as well as serving as a consultant and contractor for many years, can at times be isolating. African American Private Practitioners in Behavioral Health (AAPPBH) has continually provided ongoing peer support, information about consulting and contracting opportunities, and excellent professional development opportunities addressing current issues from industry experts. So, if you are new to the social services industry and could use some mentoring, or if you are a seasoned professional looking to expand your network, AAPPBH is an invaluable resource.

I’m thrilled to see the relaunch of African-American Private Practitioners in Behavioral Health! This organization plays a vital role in creating networking opportunities and building a strong professional community for Black behavioral health professionals.
James R. Mitchell, LCSW
AAPPBH also offers valuable continuing education and insight on topics that directly impact our work and our communities. Congratulations on this important relaunch.
